Epitrite Templates: How to Pick and Customize the Right One
Starting a lyric video from a blank canvas is fine if you know exactly what you want. But most musicians open the editor, stare at the options, and spend 10 minutes tweaking settings before they even get to the lyrics.
Templates skip that entire phase. Pick one that matches your genre and mood, and you've got a pre-configured starting point: font, colors, animation, background style, text positioning -- all set and cohesive. Customize from there.
Epitrite has 29+ templates. This is how to pick the right one and make it yours.
How Templates Work
A template in Epitrite is a preset combination of:
- Font family and weight
- Text color and accent color
- Background color/gradient/style
- Text animation type
- Text positioning and size
- Effect settings (glow, shadow, grain, etc.)
When you apply a template, all these settings load at once. You're not picking a "theme" that you can't change -- every setting remains fully editable. The template is a starting point, not a restriction.
Picking by Genre
The fastest way to find the right template: match your genre.

Customizing After Applying
Applying a template is step one. Making it yours is step two. Here's what to customize:
Font
The template font works for the genre, but it might not match your specific artist identity. Swap to a different font in the same weight class and the template's other settings still work.
Colors
Adjust the primary text color and accent color to match your album art or brand palette. Keep the same level of contrast the template started with -- if it was white-on-dark, keep it high-contrast.
Animation
The template's default animation matches the genre's energy. But if you prefer a different animation (typewriter instead of fade, stomp instead of pop), swap it. The timing and visual style still work.
Background
Swap the background color, gradient, or upload your own video clips. The template's text settings are designed to work on dark backgrounds, light backgrounds, or video -- check the contrast after swapping.
Template Packs
Epitrite groups some templates into packs designed around specific aesthetics:
Trending Pack (9 templates)
Modern, social-media-forward designs. neonCity, voidGlitch, karaokePro, typewriterClean, stompKinetic, pastelLofi, scribbleDiary, depthTilt, splitScreenPromo.
Dantos Pack (2 templates)
Artist-specific templates designed for a particular visual identity. dantosHype (aggressive, red) and dantosMoody (atmospheric, blue).
Classic Pack
The original Epitrite templates. filmGrain, goldRush, brat, bratDark, and the standard clean/minimal options.
Templates + Bulk Create
Apply a template, then use Bulk Create to generate variations. Each variation keeps the template's core identity (font, animation style) while varying the background, colors, or specific settings.
This is the fastest way to generate a week's worth of content that's visually cohesive. One template, 10 variations, 10 unique posts.
When to Skip Templates
Templates aren't always the right move:
- You have an established Brand Kit -- Your saved settings are your "template." Use Brand Kit instead.
- You want something completely custom -- Start from scratch when a template would require so much modification that it's faster to build from zero.
- You're experimenting -- Sometimes starting blank and building your look from nothing leads to a visual identity that no template would have suggested.
Building from a Template vs from Scratch
| Factor | Template Start | Blank Start | |--------|---------------|-------------| | Speed | Fast (2-3 min to customize) | Slower (5-10 min to configure) | | Consistency | High (built-in cohesion) | Depends on your eye | | Creativity | Guided (may feel constrained) | Open (more room for experimentation) | | Best for | Quick content, batch production | Special projects, identity building |
For regular TikTok posting, templates win on speed. For a flagship YouTube lyric video that defines your visual identity, building from scratch gives you more control.
